I do agree to the extent that if they're going to do a Death Star it needs to have some rooms from the Death Star. I just don't care which ones. It's not like it's going to have a big sign on it saying 'Death Star 2' on it. If they're smart about it, a lot of people can get a lot of different uses out of it.

I think the main issue that might be going over unaddressed is that at its core this set is "boring" place where a bunch of randos hang out and drink. The only action is the Han/Greedo and Obi-Wan versus scenes, which I think is unappealing to a large number of people in general. It really is a niche item. As opposed to something that's more action based, which is why I think Vehicles tend to work better as they have dual purposes as well as that action oriented aspect.

Although I will acknowledge that it's no longer about "toys", in the sense they are marketing towards kids, thus have deviated a little form that action feature and playability format. So they are now basically into making dioramas which can cover just about anything, and the Cantina has been a requested item in the community for a while. Maybe they just underestimated how in demand it was, at least with how they offered it? When I hear counter arguments for what Hasbro should have done it's all over the place so it's not like there is a large consensus on what the next one should even be, but I sense action oriented scenes/items tend to be more popular among the majority. Almost as if people still played with them. And so that's the argument I don't get, if we're not actually playing with them the why should they still be thought of as "toys"? It's obvious kids aren't buying a $500 anything to play with, their parents are, and it would most likely be a Power Wheels car or an iPad. I recently watched retroblasting and those were some the criticisms that it doesn't make for a good toy, and I'm like wut? I might buy into that if it were still 1999, but in truth almost every playset that's been made was essentially about characters standing around.

If you want to recreate certain scenes like Tantive IV why does it have to be a complete ship? You wouldn't be able to see the figures in of that either, which is why the wall playset works fine for that. I don't know if he knew he was contradicting himself or not but they way he went on about people just standing around in the Cantina but then to suggest making a Star Destroyer seemed odd, people just stood around there as well. So that begs the question, is it more about bias than interaction? I also wanted a Star Destroyer scene, but I've never said it would be more interesting that a Cantina etc. I like places that were full of action just as much as I do other people's so-called boring scenes.

So, if the Cantina doesn't do well does that impact all future HasLab or just select ones where nothing of significance happens? Because I still feel a Death Star has far more to offer in terms of action-oriented scenery, especially if they're able to incorporate both into one set. But also make it modular so a person could display however they like. My biggest thing is I don't want the headache of multiple separate releases. I think once people get over the price, and we know it's going to be high, they will appreciate the various iconic sections. And for those who aren't into the boring areas like the Conference room they could always sell that particular section. I don't think a Cantina doing poorly should inhibit future ideas simply because each one is very different, and Hasbro had to know going in that this wasn't going to be for everyone. They had already gone on record stating they try to choose based on action scenes, so my guess is this will only destroy the chances of us ever getting the Home One Briefing room, Yavin Command Center, Star Destroyer bridge, as well as many other similar sets.
